Barbara Lloyd www.dogsdentrainingschool.com Barbara revolutionized dog training in Regina, Saskatchewan by being the first to offer Manners classes instead of obedience classes, thus proving to be the leader of the pack in local dog culture. She forever changed how dog training is done in Regina by rejecting harsh coercion and punishment based training methods and instead chooses to train dogs with compassion and applied learning theory. Not only is Barbara the head of the pack in her pack of eight dogs, she is also at the head of the pack of dog trainers internationally. Barbara also has a history of media appearances both on and off cameras as well as on radio and in print. She has also consulted with “The Outdoor Life Network” on the Trainability of Dogs & the Ten Most Ultimate Dogs television program. She has participated several times on “Blue Sky Radio Show” hosted by Jennifer Gibson as the Dog Expert on CBC Radio. She has been featured in the “Regina Sun Newspaper”, the “Leader Post” and has taped a mini-series called “The Dog’s Den Show” with co-host Jennifer Berg for Access Television. Barbara is also a main contact for production companies looking for dog actors and has provided a trained dog, Artemis, for movie performances. In addition, because of her extensive educational background she is routinely invited as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Regina and at High School Psychology Classes in Regina to demonstrate the Application of Operant Conditioning and Classical Conditioning. Recognizing the importance of Community Service, Barbara is active in many Pet Therapy Programs with her Briard Artemis and Rottweiler Gabriel. These engagements range from Children’s Bereavement Camps to working with developmentally challenged children and adults to Alzheimer’s Day Patients as well as long term care patients in Care Homes and in the Wascana Rehab Centre. In her commitment to the betterment of human/canine relationships she promotes the “No Bite Program” to numerous elementary school students to teach them respect for pets and how to properly approach and pet a dog. Professionally Barbara competes in Agility, Conformation and Herding and is currently training dogs in Service/Assistance, Competitive Obedience, Drafting, Schutzhund and recreational dog sledding. Her Rottweiler Gabriel was rated VSP1 and awarded First in his Class at the Alberta Sieger Show and passed his Canadian Temperament Test, TT in June of 2005 and her Briard Artemis is an Internationally Titled Herding Dog.
